For us here in the United States, we are fast approaching a major holiday. Our family usually goes to my side of the family's Thanksgiving dinner with all the relatives. This year we are doing something a little differently. We're staying home! We've been so busy lately with kids running around, hubby working, me working, that a chance for all of us to stay home, eat all the food we can, and enjoy each other's company sounds wonderful to us all.

Everyone has added to the shopping list of what I need to buy. My daughter wants potato rolls, not regular rolls. My oldest son wants pies...pumpkin, apple, and chocolate cream. The twins want mashed potatoes...specifically my spuds, because they say they taste different than everyone else's. Hubs wants leftovers! I have to agree with my hubs. That's the drawback of going somewhere else for dinner. I always want a cold hunk of turkey in a buttered roll the next day, and there is none.

One thing that is very different for me is cooking a store bought turkey. We raise our own birds, and usually have a few in the freezer, but this year it didn't get done. I love raising turkeys. =)
I sat down tonight and made out a grocery list. I've planned the menu. This is what will be on our table Thursday for Thanksgiving. Turkey, Mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, potato rolls, fruit salad, sweet potatoes, and baked beans. For dessert, we are having pumpkin pie, apple pie, Chocolate cream pie, and butterscotch pie. Of course, you have to have nibble foods too. Pickles, olives, chips and dip, crab salad, and peanuts. The rule is...you have to eat all day long!
What's on your menu? Do you spend Thanksgiving at home?
