Don't panic! I know it is Monday. :-) Its been one of those weeks. So busy that the week flew by and here we are in a new week. I have things planned tomorrow, so I thought I would post the Tuesday Catchup today. Yeah, sure, I could schedule this to post tomorrow. Why wait though!
I got my first round edits back for Resurrecting Charlie's Girl and turned them back in. Now, I wait for the second round of edits. I'm also scheduling promo work. I have two books coming out in March. If you'd like to interview me or post an excerpt on your site, feel free to get in touch with me. I would also love to pay it back and have you here on my blog. A little networking does help!
Hubs had a couple days off last week, and we worked at getting a huge pile of brush burnt...major bonfire time. Worked out good, because the weather was very rainy. At times, the water was running down the hill in big muddy streams. It makes our very long, steep, gravel driveway a mess when this happens! It would have been nice if it was snow instead, but this winter has disappointed me greatly. *sniff* Two little snow storms and the rest of the time it just rains. *dabs eyes*
Have you ever noticed that you have one area in your house that seems to be the gathering point for family, friends, and guests? For our family it is the dining room table, which is in our family room. This is where we all hang out. We read, eat, talk, work, and visit at the table. I think being able to sit around the table and see everyone makes it a comfy place.
Where is your gathering place?
Speaking of tables, do you use tableclothes, placemats, or a fabric runner on your table? Since we use ours constantly, it rarely has anything decorating it. Just the plain ol' scarred up wood that can tell a million stories and provides a surface that you aren't afraid to damage. That isn't to say that I don't have all the pretties to make it a focal point in the room. My mom crochets the most beautiful things and has made me several tableclothes that wow everyone...very elegant. I love to have a bowl or candles out in the center. It rarely happens though, unless I know company is coming! lol
What does your table look like?

Oh, I'd love to hang out with you at the bonfire. How fun! So what if it's just brush. lol It still sounds like fun!
Ha! My kitchen table is from my college years. My roomies and I had a two keg party and one of my chairs got busted into pieces. The table has a huge gouge mark from someone trying to cut something on it. Now, that I have kids, there are a bazillion fork stab marks courtesy of my son. *sigh* For a 10yr old table, I guess its seen a lot of battle. :) I told hubs I'm not willing to upgrade until our kiddos are old enough to resist the urge to destroy everything. (That does happen, right?) LOL
I don't know...I refuse to buy a new table, and my kids are all in their teens. lol At this point, I'm waiting until mine all move out!!
The kitchen and the dining table tend to be the centre of our house or if it's summer we sit out in our patio area. I use a table cloth :)
Debra - you're very welcome to visit my blog. Just give me a week or so and jog my memory if I don't get back to you. I have edits at the moment and a million other things all at once. I've written you on my list.
Thanks Shelley! I'd love to visit. =) No hurry, the book doesn't come out until the 25th of March.
*jump jump* That makes me excited to go to one of my favorite blogs!
SAME! We have an open concept kitchen/dining area and my kitchen table looks like someone used it for a workbench. lol S'all good, many happy times spent there. Someday I might replace it with a 'pretty table'...or not.
You can come visit me in March! Just let me know when and whether you want to guest post or for me to send interview questions or or or...whatever. =)
I think most of us just need workbench tables to become the new fashion statement for the home. We can start a new trend! lol
Thanks Lainey...I'd love to come over to your blog. I'll shoot you an email next week and set something up. *hugs*
